Crystal Yu is an actor, filmmaker, and educator who has made a name for herself with her captivating performances on both the big and small screens. She is best known for her role as Dr. Lily Chao in the BAFTA award-winning medical drama Casualty on BBC One.

Crystal has recently completed filming with BAFTA Award winner Jason Watkins and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck, and has led alongside Guy Pearce in the upcoming thriller Sunrise. Her recent projects include The Sandman for Netflix, Doctor Who, Soulmates for AMC, Silverpoint for BBC, and Netflix's A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. She also starred alongside Claudia Black in Deus, a thrilling space adventure set in the orbit of Mars.

As a writer and director, Crystal has also garnered critical acclaim. Her short film GRIT, created for the 2022 London 48 Hour Film Project, was nominated for Best Film and Best Direction and won Best Actor and Best Cinematography. Are You Sleeping?, which she wrote and directed, premiered at the 2020 Frightfest Film Festival and was later nominated for Best Director Short Film at the Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival 2020. Her work has also been recognized by the Arts Film Awards, where her film Questions to Love received an Honorable Mention, and the China Women's Film Festival, where it was selected for screening.

Crystal's contributions to the arts have not gone unnoticed, as she was selected as a proud finalist for the 2020 Asian Women of Achievement Awards (AWA) for her outstanding work in Arts and Culture. As the patron of SLiDE Dance, Crystal is passionate about promoting inclusivity in the arts and strives to ensure that dance is accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
