Produced by the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival, Gangsters of Hong Kong follows Liu Mila, a graduate student from mainland China avidly interested in Hong Kong gang culture, and arrives in the city to devote her MPhil research to the local underworld.
Through the course of collecting oral histories for her dissertation, she comes to know three men who once roamed the streets of Sham Shui Po as small-time gangsters in their youth. When she runs into trouble at her rented flat, the three middle-aged men each offer advice to help solve the problem, an experience that enriches her final thesis.
